Dental Implants Miami
A misunderstood and controversial subject. They are not for everyone and certainly not a cure all. Nevertheless, if you are a candidate and your needs require them, they are an extremely viable solution.
Dr. Nilo Hernandez is highly trained in Dental Implants. He has appeared in several in several dental journals & magazines.
From replacing one tooth to an entire mouth is achievable through the use of dental implants. |
What are dental implants?
Implants for dentistry are made from Titanium steel and sometimes coated with substances that aid in the initial attraction to bone. They come in basically two common shapes. The cylinder and the blade. The cylinder type is the most common and looks like a tooth root form. Blade types are used where bone depth is shallow or very thin. Not as common anymore, but were once the only type used.
What does the implant procedure involve?
First, you need to discuss your restorative options with your dentist. Dental implants are usually performed by a dental team consisting of a surgeon and restorative dentist. The first visit will consist of taking a medical and dental history and completing a thorough oral examination. X-rays of your remaining teeth and bone, intraoral photographs and impressions of your remaining teeth will be taken. The dental team will use this information to formulate a treatment plan. The second visit will consist of explaining and discussing your treatment options with you.

Implants can alleviate many of the disadvantages of denture wearing patients. For example, patients who have been wearing full dentures cannot chew hard or firm foods because of the mobility of the dentures. They also cannot talk out loud or quickly for fear of the dentures falling out.The advent of dental implants can once again give you the self confidence to speak freely in public and once again chew your favorite foods.

IMPLANT DENTISTRY: A tooth replacement intended to replicate what nature gave us to begin with...
Implants have come a long way since I got out of school. It was a techniques dedicated to the few, risky patients willing to try something new and adventurous. This was back in the late 80's and early 90's.
Today, it is main stream American Dentistry. It is also considered Standard of Care by many... and us as well. Patients have the right to know ALL their options. Knowing all their options also means having a dental team committed to education, training and the ability to deliver this knowledge in a manner that benefits the patient.
We have the ability to return a patient to the chewing, smiling and functioning style they always had prior to missing their teeth. Whether it is 1 missing tooth or an entire mouth, Implant Dentistry can facilitate an answer for your concern.
