PERIODONTAL TREATMENT

The most common periodontal disease is gingivitis. This causes patients

gum to bleed easily during brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Some patients also have bad breath.  As the disease goes untreated, the loss of support bone becomes the most serious complication. As this bone loss occurs, pockets form alongside teeth where food deposits stay for prolonged periods and attracts bacteria.  Once those pockets are improved or eliminated, then the mouth can begin to fully heal.

The most advanced cases of periodontal disease can cause teeth to become loose and require removal.  This is very serious and should be avoided at all times.  To avoid complications, ensure that you see your dentist for cleanings, regularly.
